How do you stop your MF towels from linting so much?

What if you just wash them out a few times, I would think that it would eventually stoop linting?

I purchased the bulk pack from Costco, price was great, but it lints like heck.

What kind of MF towels did you buy? Some of the cheaper ones will never stop linting.

Well, to be honest, if they were 20 for 8$, I doubt they are very good MF towels. A good MF towel will cost you anywhere between $3 to $5 a piece... and upwards.

I have no linting issues with any of my MF towels.

your obviously right, cause these do!

I do have one of the 36" X 36" MF waffle towel, but I have never been able to find more? Now that one's better than the absorber towels.

Boss is right. The MF market is really priced on what you get from my experience. I have some 'ultra-cheapo' towels that I snared off of ebay many moons ago; they've since been discarded for exactly the reason you're asking about; lint.

jon,

Well, it sounds like you pick up most of your stuff locally. If that's the case, I would keep an eye out for Meguiar's Gold Class accessories in one of your local stores. The new Meguiar's WW towel (called the Water Magnet) is a very good WW towel and should run you around $7 to $9. The new Meguiar's Supreme Shine MF towels are also very nice, and should run around 3 for $10.

I would use your existing supply of MF for "grunge" work.

Heres what I do for lint problems. When drying them I put in an old tennis shoe, like a size 4 or something from when the kids were smaller, and let it beat the towels around in the dryer. This not only helps knock lint out of them it seems to make them much softer and more absorbant. Just my 2 cents, but it works good for me.

Interesting idea.... and, honestly, the first time I've heard this one. No baby shoes here in the house so my size 11's will have to suffice. LOL!

Is it safe to use the same washing machine?

The same machine to wash your clothes that you would also wash your car was towels and applicator pads?

Sounds like it could contaminate the washer. My wife would kick my butt.

I've just been washing my towels by hand and line drying them.

What's your opinion?

Washing by hand certainly isn't a bad thing but, on the flip side, I never hand wash my MF towels.

I segregate good microfibers from the more poor quality ones and do two loads of MF towels... beyond that, I typically have some terry and some shop towels to wash as well. Being that those never touch paint (or rarely), those get washed together. Applicators typically have their own load too.

Cross-contamination, I suppose, is a possibility on the washer but, with the concentrations of detergents and the chemical composition of most car care products, I don't think you have much to worry about.

I never toss my MF's or WW's in the dryer, they always air dry.

Just get a cheap pair of kids shoes at Wally World. That way you know they are clean.Size 11, you just want to beat the lint out not beat the dryer drum to death. It has made a big difference with my towels. They are much softer after, but may wear out slightly faster. It even makes the terry cloth towels alot softer.
