Holy chamoi cloth, that's expensive! I pay $40 bucks for wash, wax, and armor all (interior/exterior) at my local high tech car wash.
And it's not some cheap run down place either; they have brand spanking new vaccums, drive through washers, granite countertops, marble floors, 3 PLASMA TV'S in the waiting area.
Now you know why I'd rather take mine to get it washed, than having to get up from watching Girls Gone Wild and drinking beer.

Full exterior detail job including wheels and tires totalled $250 for my truck in Northern Virginia (cheapest I found for a reputable detailer). To do the inside and out and engine it was $350. I think I am going to attempt to battle my own swirl marks and nasty paint with a G100 in a couple weeks. Cant be that hard right

Some places depend on volume... others don't do volume... I can't afford to do a 8-12 hour detail for $40... that's less than $5/hour if you get right down to it.
There are varying levels of detailing...
I do very few vehicles as I don't detail full-time and I have done vehicles (exterior only) for as little as $50... that's usually a close friend though... and a small car.

Around here, you get a pretty good detail for the 80 bucks, claying, waxing machine buffing, wheels, tires, etc. etc. Look in the back room and you won't see anyone that speaks english. Might make a big difference. In Kentucky and in the District, I suspect you have citizens doing the work. Kinda drives the price up.

Los Angeles area can range from $40 up to $125 for exterior only. I paid $60 to get my red truck 'Buffed Out' and polished. This was a heckuva deal. I have paid a lot more for a lot less. Same guy did an exterior hand wax on my wife's SUV for about $35. It is 2003 and is a beige metallic. Yes, he does speak some english and he rents commercial space behind an auto glass shop.
You really have to look hard to find someone good in your area. I shy away from the car wahes because they do not seem to put a lot of effort into the job.
Good luck.

HOLY CHIT !!!!! I guess I'll just keep (attempting) to keep it up myself. Damn that seems so expensive.
At x-mas I was home on leave in WV... the guy soaps it up by hand, ran it thru the touchless thingy, & then dried it.... I about fell over when it was
FIVE BUCKS...... The full works inside & out & waxing it like 25-35.... absolutely amazing.... but then I don't know how in depth they'd be 'bout swirl marks.

I know the price was a lot more than I was thinking it was going to be too. But I also didnt take it to the shottiest place I could find either. I did find some of the "mobile" detailers who would do it for $150, but I cant trust them. Becarful the guy you take it to knows his equipment/products and takes pride in his work, since most people get their swirl marks from poor detailers at dealerships.
This guy was 15 years experienced, and confident the swirls and light scratches could be taken out without a problem. He orginially quoted me $200 for the full exterior but when he saw it was lifted he said its more because its a "bigger" truck than expected.
Like I said, I am feeling confident in getting a g100 and doing things myself. THe worst that could happen is nothing and I still have dull, halographic paint in the sun.
