Looks like Shop vacs and Craftsman vacs rate high, but how much horsepower do i need to vacuum out my truck if it's not too dirty? How about on heavy dirt?

I have a 4 gallon Rigid 5 peak hp vac.

I opted for the smaller size because it fit in the bed of my truck easier and it's easy to move around. It also came with a longer cord on it than my old wet/dry vac so sometimes I don't even have to pull out one of my extensio cords.

best vac

nothing that is chargable or plugs into to the dash is worth a flip horsepower means nothing amps is another gimmick think about your furnace blower it,s a 1/3 hp motor weighs 12-15 pounds how am i going to get 5 hp out a vac motor easy i put the motor in a vise apply 120 volts measure tha amps just before it frys about 30 amps is normal 120 volt x 30 amps = 3600 watts divide by 746(no. of watts to a hp) 4,8 hp thats how it figuerd and if you have a head light add another 3/10 of a hp
buy a low priced shop vac (they basically have the same motor) and it will handle water as well NEVER USE YOUR BRIDES VAC IF IT IS AN UPRIGHT most have a system where the dirt travels over the fan i made a living on broken fans for over 45 years before retiring from the DIRT SUCKER industry

I bought a hand held shop vac, it looks just like the bigger shop vac's except it doesn't have any wheels. I'am not sure what size it is but it's plenty strong enough for cleaning my truck. I like that it uses the smaller diameter hose so it gets into very small spots.

vacuums

1st puncuation if i had excelled in english i would have finished college, instead of selling and repairing several thousand vacuums (somewhere around 150 thousand)

30 amps is easy in a testing lab its all marketing bs
to add to the confusion, don't forget i said locked rotor ' UL says you can over state the amps but not under state for example hoover uses the same motor in several model but different amps listed on the name plate ditto for the rest of the labels

Stick a paper clip in the outlet! Of course your breaker should be less than 30 amps but you get the point. It will spike up before it trips.
