Perhaps none of us can figure out what you're talking about? How about a picture?

My 05 Lariat has it Dr Paul. It is standard on all F150's and its for rock chip protection. Basically it rubberized paint that is very hard to chip and thus rust.

I don't notice anything on my 05 Lariat.?.? Maybe because the white paint hides what your talking about.

I don't see what you speak of, but I do see DEAD PEOPLE.

I had a 2-tone chevy Tahoe that didn't have it and the paint peeled behind the rear wheel.

I have the same kind of paint on the lower edge of my '97 Ranger, so I think Ford has been doing it for awhile.

Ahh yes, that paint is there to help prevent rock chips.

And it's white because your truck is white ;-)

Like Intel486 said, it is to prevent rock chips.

It's a clear textured chip guard that the factory applies. It helps protect the paint from chipping along the bottom edge of the vehicle from rocks and other road debris that gets kicked up by your tires. I believe all of the F-150's have this chip guard. I know my XL has it along the entire bottom.
