Bought a Dual Action Polisher

I went by Lowes tonight and was doing some shopping. Well I walked by the hardware department and decided, to heck with it and bought the Porter Cable 7336. I came home and opened up my cabinet and went to town on "everyone elses" car.

Waiting on all my stuff to come in the mail to mess with my truck. Not to mention learning on everyone elses cars

Alright I came up with a few questions after playing with mine. I did some research but wanted to check with you guys on opinions before I proceeded any further. Can I use the same pads on the 7336 that you use on the 7424? Where is the best place to get pads and a backing plate? How do you clean your pads?

Same pads = Yes

Plate = www.autodetailingsolutions.com or check to see if you have a local Paint and Body supply house.

Cleaning pads = I like Murphy's Wood Oil Soap

RockPick, have you ever used the Murrphy's oil to wash your truck? I know of a person that uses it to wash there cars and trucks instead of other soaps. What are your thoughts on it?

Murphys oil? I would highly recommend against that. WHat results your seeing is some "oil" residue on top of the paint making you think it looks better, all the while probably damaging it worse and worse. Its a floor product, I can't imagine who would use that to wash a car

If RP said it, then there is a 99.8% chance of it being correct.

Yes RP meant using it to clean the pads, not to wash your vehicle with.

Holy cow... yes. I just meant the PADS...

No way in the world I'd wash my vehicle with Murphy's... it'd certainly strip the paint of any surficial protection and/or potentially damage the paint I'd think...

You may have problems with the velcro separating from the foam... several folks had reported this problem when using a washing machine or similar...

I have the Lake Country velcro pads also. I just soak them in some Dawn liquid for about an hour and then rinse by hand. Let air dry and you should be good to go.
