I will never do this again!!! (pics 56k warning)
Started what looks to be a week long project on my old mustang.
The paint on the car is not perfect. Its a good 20 feet car then when you get up on it the paint has flaws from a bad paint job with dust, scratches, and waterstains.
Soooooo I go out this morning and start off with 600 wet sand, then 1000 wet sand, heavy duty compound several times, light duty compound several times, about 5 rounds of #9, and some nxt.
So far I have the trunk and top done in just under 9 hours.
Here is what I started with....
Then the 600 grit....

More sanding this morning...
Hood, drivers side and rear finished today. I should be able to finish the passenger side tomorrow and get it washed then put the final coats of wax on hopefully.
This has been way more project than I wanted, but took alot of defects out of the paint.
My reasoning for 600 grit....the dust deep in the paint.
Half way into the hood this morning the rotary buffer speed control switch exploded and I had to take it apart and wire it up to run wide open...not a good thing.
Best part of it......no clear coat.
Best product used meguiars nxt. Most stubborn product used meguiars nxt.
Finished hood...dust on hood just from backing out side.

I look at the first picture in this series, and then the last. Again and again. Granted, I didn't do the work, but it sure seems worth the effort. The difference is astounding! You should puff all up with pride while driving around town with that car!! Hat's off to you! Have a nanner!
