drivers side wiper hitting side molding

I have a problem with my truck wiper when I turn on the wipers at city speeds the drivers side wipe travels the full range of motion that is should but if I'm driving down the highway the wiper comes all the way up and hits the molding at the side of the widow then it travels back down to the proper place at the bottem end of the range of motion I can't figure out what is causing this except I notice there is a crack is the housing of the windshield wiper. any help would be greatly appreciated
truck is 1997 f150 reg cab

try popping off the little cover at the base of the arm and tightening the nut.

If you bought the truck used, check the length of the blades. I think the oem length is 20". Some of us have installed 22" blades.

Is this something where you can just loosen the arm, and move it over a couple of teeth, granted it'll make it's resting position even lower...

I don't think so. The arm is in a fixed position.

Yes you can. I had to do that to my passenger side.

Oooh, yeah. I see what he's talking about now. Brain fart.

Yes you can do that, sorry. I got bumfuzzled when I read that. I thought you meant under the cowl. You can move the wiper anywhere you want it. Just make sure you tighten it back down really good when you get it where you want it or it'll strip the teeth.
