Need a detail plan
My first post on here. I hope I am not beating a dead horse with this post. You guys are extremely helpfull with all the info on here, so thanks for everything I have read so far. I traded in my 04' G35 Black Coupe (tons of spider swirls) for 06 FX4 Black. I swore I would never get black again and now I know why.
3 days old, took it to the dealer for a bed liner, they washed it for me and now I have spider swirls all over. First thing I will not take it back to them, even to complain. I just want to repair it myself. I want try to reduce the swirls without causing any damage to the paint. I have purchased 2 waffle weave microfiber drying towels, 2 microfiber hand mitts, 2 buckets.
I also have some shampoo that is decent. What steps should I take to reduce the swirls and regain the best look for my truck. Clay bar, Glaze, wax, etc.
I am new to detailing(thats why my G35 was so screwed up). I do not know if I am ready to remove them with a PC, unless thats the only way. I dont mind spending $150- $300 to get the proper equip. to make my truck look nice. My main goal is to reduce the swirls/scratches an then maintain a nice look.

First off, welcome. My son's 2005 F150 is black so I know how you feel with regards to black paint.
Secondly, Rock Pick and others on here are awesome help. If you need any more info, you might want to check out this address....these folks are great help too.
Good luck!

I have detailed my truck quite a bit. When I lived near corpus in texas my truck was getting covered with paint overspay from the fabrication yard I worked at. That is a common problem down there and the company doesn't do anything about it. It literally feels like sand paper on your truck. What I do: I first wash all the loose dirt off with water from a hose hand sprinkler(pressure can cause dirt to cause scratches). Then use blue coral soap and bucket with a clean terry cloth mit. One section at a time, washing the mit off before starting the next pannel. Then a very gently dry with an absorber. Then pull in the garage to keep wind from blowing dirt on my druck. Next I clean with a clay bar. Clay majic has seemed to be the best clay bar I have used. I would use that and be very generous with the supplied detail lubricator, buy more if you have to. Kneed the clay often and go over the paint. Afterward I would apply migiulars carnuba liquid wax with an orbital waxer. Always go in predictable patterns like across one way and back the other, exactly like if you were painting a vehicle. Hand touch up the corners and small areas you can't get to with the orbital. Finally remove wax with several clean microfiber cloths. Considering my truck has been covered in yellow paint three times and I don't have swirls from removing the paint, I feel pretty good about this method.

Hi Blackflee -- similar to the 'girl question' thread, you've asked a very open ended question that would be tough to answer with a lengthy novel...
I'm not trying to side step your question here but would rather recommend that you read around on this site and other detailing based sites (although ours isn't detailing based -- I think many will agree that we do a pretty good job here as a F-series board!). Attempt to focus in on a few specific questions that you have and we'll try to knock them out one at a time with some good, in depth, in detail answers.
Enjoy the reading and congrats on the new BLACK truck -- I'm in the same boat with you bud.... black is BEAUTIFUL clean but a MONSTER to keep looking good.

Microfiber question
First off, thanks for the replies.
I have read alot of the info on this site a few others. I do have one question that I have not found an answer to yet. My new microfiber drying towel. I washed them prior to use. Now when I dry my truck off, should I use a swiping motion or just dab the truck i cant think of a better word than dab . Also should the towels be damp prior to using them?

After I wash, first i "flood" the truck by taking off the nozzle and letting the water sheet off the truck. This will get off a lot more water than just spraying with the nozzle. Then I try to blot with My waffle weave microfiber. I love poorboys products BTW, very user friendly, and can by applied in the sun. good luck
