Cleaning chome plated rims

What do you guys use to clean your chrome rims. Seems like the black grime in the spokes of my chrome rims wont come off with soap and water too well.

Try clay bars!!!! or you can mix vinegar and baking soda to turn into paste. but watch out on foaming stage when mixing it.

Most chrome plated wheels will only require glass cleaner to achieve a good clean and shine. If they have some buildup on them, get some wheel polish and that will take care of the rest, with a little elbow grease of course

I can't think of the name of the stuff, but it comes in a small can and it contains a cotten type material that you tear off and use to clean the wheel. It is saturated with a cleaner. Works great.

Well they were clean but from alot of driving and not being cleaned they have brake dust build up and it seems packed in. Let me try today and see how they turn out.

Thanks

Eagle One A2Z Tire and Wheel Cleaner worked a bit with a Meguiar's Wheel Brush Supplement that with Mother's Chrome Polish and your wheels should be very sparkly.

Like the other posts say, use a good polish. Also, never had a great deal of trouble cleaning brake dust, maybe cuz I wash it so much, hahaha. After that, polish or use the windex or something. I used autosol on a friends Grand Am GT wheels, the 02 that are chrome and after washing real good, polished and they looked great. As far as getting the hard stuff off, there has to be cleaners out there for this that won't hurt chrome. Getting this brake crap off the inside, hard work. I have the sawblade 97-01 17" off road rims that are painted inside, good luck cleaning. I get them nice enough for me.

Well I used some chrome wheel cleaner spray from pepboys. Claims it gets grease and brake grime off with no scrubbing and after using it and scrubing with a brush alot came off but much was still there.

My neighbor came over and gave me a mr clean magic eraser to try. Well it work great! I was really surprised but the magic eraser is my ne best friend when it comes to cleaning rims.

Thanks for all your advice.

Be really careful with that Magic Eraser on wheels. The reason ito works so well on factory chrome plated wheels is because chrome plating is very hard - and it has no protective layer over it. If you were to use that bad boy on a factory aluminum wheel - which has a protective clear coat on it - you'd seriously damage the clear coat. That opens the door for all sorts of bad stuff to follow. So, used correctly, it can be your friend. Used incorrectly. like many other things, it can cause all sorts of problems.

50% white vinegar and 50% water. White vinegar only, not apple cideror any other. The softer the water, the better-use distilled.

While washing my whole truck, I wash the wheels with the same carwash formula, but when I first got the truck they were nasty and all ( was mainly a highway truck so you know how dirty that gets ) so I used bug & tar remover & gave them a wash & polish & now there blinding I also use Eagle 1 wet tire shine on my tires.

i wash them with a mild soap and water solution, waxing will also protect the wheel's finish from rusts, tar staining and other elements.
