pinstripe

I kinda want to get rid of my pinstripe on my 2000, do y'all think it will have too much "ghosting" from where the stripe was? The truck is full detailed (clay bar, then waxed) two to three times a year and I try to keep it as clean as possible. It's also garaged while I'm at work but it sits in the weather at home in the evenings and weekends.

Tough call to make... at 5+ years old, there could be some shadowing... what color is it?

It's Deep Wedgewood Blue. I didn't initially want a pinstripe, but the truck had one when I bought it. It looked pretty good so I left it, but for over 5 years now I have debated taking it off or leaving it on.

Whew... I'm not sure...

If it does have a shadow, I think it could probably be dealt with but, again, it's a risk...

5+ years from an environment could certainly cause a problem... I've seen vehicles here locally that are less than 2 years old with significant sun fading/oxidation ...

Yeah, that's pretty much the conclusion I've arrived at. It's a tough call, maybe I'll get a wild hair and just do it and deal with the problem if it arises.

Obviously, depending on what might be causing the shadow, it may be able to be taken care of...

Oxidation caused by the elements is one of those things that really isn't horribly difficult to deal with but, on a dark colored vehicle like yours, it may be a bit more tough...

My truck has a ugly purple pinstripe on it i hate it, I'd like to remove it and put a black flame pinstripe up going all the way to the tails. But hearing about shadowing... damn getting me thinking now lol... idk about the past 4yrs of its life but i rarely keep it in hot sun. btw my truck is Harvest Gold

My 1998 had a red pin stripe on it, and I took it off about 6 months ago and their was no shadowing or fading at all. But now I put a chrome pinstripe on it. I would say if it did have a shadow you could buff it out, or usually the sun will blend any shadowing over a period of time.

On a 4 or 5 year old truck that is out in the sunlight most of the time will have shadowing. I have removed much vinyl lettering and stripes, and all within this age have shadows.

I think it'd be too risky. Chances are pretty high it might look worse once you finish taking it off.

FWIW I like the factory Lariat stripes...
