Cloudy glass stains

‘97 F150 – Are the front windshields made of two layers of glass? I have what appears to be two large water stains that are only seen when the humidity is high inside the truck. It looks like water has seeped between the two layers of glass. They run from the top to almost the bottom of the glass on the passenger’s side. I’ve cleaned the inside and outside of the glass but the spots or cloudy smears remain.

Yes, your windshield is a laminate - with a layer of plastic in the middle. The plastic is what keeps it from shattering into all sorts of small pieces when it breaks. (Also helps keep you in the truck.) Your side windows are just tempered glass. That's why folks who steal cars always break a side window.

Thanks 2stroked
Thats what it looks like. I wonder if this is a common problem (along with all the others) with the trucks. I've never seen it on any other car.

Do you wear polarized sunglasses? This can reveal white clouding in some glass.
