Cooking spray on the front?

Anyone ever use Pam, the non stick spray, on the front of your vehicle before a road trip to aid in bug removal?I think someone told me they use it in Florida during love bug season.

Ehh... I wouldn't.

PRO makes a product called BUG GUARD which is a gel that is water-based that washes off... I'd give it a look versus using buttery canola.

I tried it once, it didn't work well, it dries and bakes on. Try what RP said. Try putting several coats of wax on the front end before you go. Stopping at a quarter car wash daily or useing the windshield washer thing at a gas station to knock them off. Another idea is to spray a silicone spray, or lemon pledge on the front end before heading out, and reapplying along the way. Be careful what you put on so it doesn't hurt painted surfaces. What about something like a tire dressing that leaves that shiny look. Just remember, whatever you use, has the possibility of getting on your windshield during the rain. Hey theres another idea, use rain-x on the front end and the windshield

Rain x directions say do not allow to contact painted surfaces....I do use it on the windshield and it helps. I have tried every wax/sealant known and some of those buggers remain on into the winter.Have to just about take sandpaper to them. I'll look around and try to find some of that Bug Guard. Thanks......

Don't use Rain-X... it's a VERY potent solvent that has the potential to permanently damage the paint.

I guess waxing prior and washing them off every chance you get is probably the best thing you can do unless you can get a hold of the Nascar clear tear off's that they use on the windshields.

Easy fix for this is

1) a good silicone based tire shine coating on the front, and a hose when you get there. Works wonders

I use pledge inside the wheel wells, and on the rear bumper cover when i take my car to the track, the rubber doesn't stick, I'm sure it would work the same for bugs.
