I was at Walmart looking for some Microtex MF towels, and I saw a product called Simoniz "Liquid Diamond" Synthetic car polish. It says it's a "NEW" product on the tub it came in. It comes with a yellow sponge applicator. I've never seen it before, and was hoping you had heard of it?

From reading the label on the back, it sounded pretty durable. It said it lasts "for months", and it says it's "applied at new car dealerships everywhere". It was only $8.93, so I picked it up along with a few MF towels and a Zwipes MF super sponge. Have you ever heard of Simoniz products? I did a search and came up empty.

Simoniz is a car wash chain in this part of the country. I didn't know they manufactured thier own products.

 

Thanks. I saw that website. On the back of the tub, it says 2005 Simoniz USA, Inc. So I guess they do?

I've read a little on other detailing forums, and most people say Simoniz products are "ok" at best. But this is a new product, so I don't think many have tried it. If this rainy weather ever stops, I'll tell how it turns out for those who are interested.

The only thing that has me worried is, it says the more you use it, the deeper and darker the shine gets. That leads me to think it has some strong chemicals in it, or it's a sales pitch to get you to keep buying it.

I won't draw judgement but, most of the Simon-Sayz products that I've utilized are somewhat lackluster. Maybe this is the gem in the barrel though...

Thanks for the info. I'll try almost any polish/wax once. Remember the Blue Coral detergent powders? I'll post pics and give a long-term review of it when I get a chance for those who are interested.

Man, I hope it's pretty outside tommorrow. I've been itching all week to detail my truck. Lord knows it needs it inside and out. I'll be sure to shoot the wheel wells with some armour all just for you RP. L0L!

 

The Simoniz synthetic polish went on really easy. Almost like water. After it dried to a haze, it was kind of hard to buff out by hand, and it was a little streaky. I hope that's a sign that it'll last a long time. I'd compare it to Meg's #26 in terms of application/removal.

I think the shine is better than a pure carnauba. There's no seran wrap look at all. It has alot of darkness and depth, and works really well with darker colors IMO.

If I had to rate this product in terms of application and removal, I'd give it a 7.9 out of 10 simply because it was tough to buff out, and sort of streaky. Otherwise, the final product looks great! I just hope it lasts.

Maybe it would be easier to remove if you buff it off before it hazes, just a thought might be worth a try. Maybe even try a layer of Carnauba over the top?

 

Thanks for the compliment. I'll try that next time. It does dry rather fast though. If you let it sit 30 seconds, it's already hazed over. Can you even layer a carnauba wax over a synthetic polish? Sorry, I'm uneducated when it comes to auto detailing.:o

 

I usually do 1 coat of NXT (synthetic) then 2 coats carnauba, and it looks fine (Don't say anything, RP. I mean on the other vehicles I detail).

I know others (ie: I think RP maybe) likes to do the other way around.

As for wet removal, I'd try applying to a 2x2 foot area then buffing out as quickly as possible. If that's too big, try 1x1...etc... You should be able eventually to get a wet-on, wet-off system down, which can leave fantastic results (especially on black paint...like an RX-8 I watched get detailed)
