Question RP - Meg's #7 Question

RP -- how would you define the purpose of a pure polish like Meg's #7? What attributes would you look for it to bring to the finished product?

After I used the combination of Meguiar's Cleaner Wax and Nxt on my Ranger last week I have really been questioning whether my normal regimen of #7-Nxt-#26 is really what I should be using -- at least on my daily drivers.

I am not RP, but I would recommend using these....that is if your not going to clay the vehicles.

Meg's Gold Class Car Wash (it has a conditioner in it that is good for the paint)
Meg's Paint Cleaner #1 (Or you could skip this and just #2 and #3 which I have done sometimes).
Meg's Polish #2
Meg's Carnauba Wax #3

I like the NXT Insane Tire Shine, but was a bit disappointed with the NXT Wax.

My .02 cents.

Good luck!

#7 is a pure 'pop' product. No protection. It is GREAT on dark colors. 7/26 isn't a bad combo but there are others that may yield longer protection as 26 isn't notorious for the epitome of protection.

Yeah. But with a basecoat of NXT, you probably won't notice it from a protection standpoint, just a visual, at which point you'll stop and think: " time to wash and wax again!!!"

Personally, I love NXT tech wax, and have heard great thngs about #26 in terms of the looks aspect. RP probably is at this moment, though, conjuring up a combination of combinations of products that you should use. (mwa ha ha ha ha...)

RP, I know people have said good thngs about # 16, what's your take?

Let's put it this way... I have 8 tins of it. I started buying them at an alarming rate when they discon'd it.

It is *MY FAVORITE* last step product on the market. It's impossible to beat on a dark color IMO.

whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot (WTF)!!!

When did they stop making it???? Where can I get some? I was going to try to get some when I bought the stuff from ADS, but they didn't have it, so I figured they just didn't carry it anymore!!

Also, what ever happened to Natural shine Rubber/Vinyl protectant??? It dissappeared, too. (at least, it's not on ADS, and it's not at Autozone...)

For both of these products, is there a suitable replacement? (as for the # 16, aside from CIW, what's the best for silver? #26 since 16 was disc'd?)

Thanks.

Discon'd about two years ago when California's clean air laws roped in automotive chemical manufacts. You see, #16 had a lot of solvents in it I believe. Also, it wasn't very popular other than amongst a small circle of folks. Hence, it went away.

Watch ebay... it's there frequently. Sorry, mine isn't for sale.

Not sure on Natural Shine... Meg's still shows it on their website. Might have to get it direct... I'm sure Rick can get it (or carries it). Not sure about a 'replacement' for it -- especially if it's not officially 'gone'.

As for the #16, #26 is just about as good as you'll find to replace it. And, in my opinion, it's not of the same magnitude... it's good, but it's not #16.

#26 is actually very good on some of the lighter colors. I definitely like it on Arizona Beige.

Hmmmm. already at $20 per can, and probably on th rise... and for only 11 oz...on a light colored (silver) truck, where # 26 is suppossedly great... Seems more worth my time to just get the more readily availible #26. But thanks for the input. As for the natural shine, I'll email rick and see (or perhaps I am a comlete idiot and missed it on his site...very possible since I browse late when I'm already tired.)

Thanks again.

Check around locally as #16 can still be found in the $9.99-$14.00 range if your interested.

May be worth a try

Oh. well, they don't have it now, either. I just swung by there for some stuff I needed, and try as I might, I couldn't find any. I didn't get around to O'Reilley's, though. Did they ever carry it?
