Engine bay/undercarriage

I am off of work tomorrow and I would like to detail my truck. Can anyone explain the proper way to clean the engine bay without damaging any electrical components. Also, what is the best way to clean underneath the truck without having a steam genie?

To clean my engines I always use full strength Simple Green. Let it soak for a bit and then rinse off with a water hose. Just be careful around your electronics and you should be fine. I normally don't do anything more than spray the frame off.

My solution is to use 2 rags... in the following method:

Use an all purpose cleaner and the 2 bucket method with a rag or 2 and clean each part accessible. Wipe with APC, then wipe with water, then wipe dry. This is NOT a place to spray water. Some do it, but you should consider yourself lucky if you can spray water into your engine bay and not get misfires. If you follow this method, you will NEVER get engine trouble caused by a clean engine. Also, it means you can detail any vehicle and not need to read the owner's manual for what areas to cover.

Basically... Do you feel lucky???
