Washing canopies

As I was attempting to wash my truck in the blazing Arizona sun, I really gave some thought to some sort of shade arrangement. This Arizona sun is a killer, and there just isn't any getting around it. I'm giving thought to buying one of those shade canopies like you would rent for a party. I'm thinking I might look a little obsessive washing my truck under one in the driveway, though. Has anyone tried something similar?

I wouldn't consider you a fool for thinking about using one of those, that sun is killer down there. My sis lives in Tucson I can't wait to get back down there again this June. I have considered gettin one of those up here at my last house where I had no shade to wash during the summer. My only concern would be getting the under side of the canopy wet and having it drip (if the heat doesn't zap it first).

I have an ez up .. I use ti as an extension to the roof of my garage, so it always stays in the shade .. I have a west facing garage, so I actually put i up on an angle, to make sure no sun gets to the garage itself.

works well for that, and also for tailgates, car shows, etc ..

as for out in the straight sun, using it as a wash canopy .. not sure a 10 x 10 is big enough for that .. unles it was at dead noon and the sun was directly overhead .. you will still get sun on the sides of the vehicle ..

better than nothing, by far ,, but I would look at a bit bigger size, if you can swing it ..

I've been eyeballing purchasing one of these lately and have actually been doing some similar research... Keep me up to speed on what you decide to purchase.

Also, anyone else have one? Good? Bad? Ugly?

Where did you snare yours Gip?

bought mine at BJ's Wholesale .. was about 79 bucks or so on closeout.. guess there was not a lot of demand for them in December in Maryland....

just have the 10 x 10 .. originally bought it to use it for tailgating at the races .. but it works well for shading the garage .

it is a pretty easy unit to set up by yourself .. taking down by yourself is a litlte trickier, but can be done with one person. it is also very easy to transport, fit in the back of the Expy up against the second row of seats, with no issues.

Came across this while trolling Meg's forums for the first time yesterday.

Way more than $79 though. Has some good pics to give you size ideas.

I used to live in Tucson and washing your truck out side in the sun was always a problem. I did see a couple of of canopys used to block the sun while washing the car
