'07 Rear Wheelwells Look Bad

I don't know if they intend to paint them and just don't spray enough, or if they don't intend to paint them and the paint that's there is just overspray from the bed, LOL. I'm talking about the inner wheelwells and the supports and braces and such you can see behind the tire, even from several feet away.

I was thinking of spraying them with something to look a little more "finished" but more so to protect them. Has anyone painted this area? Maybe some sort of undercoating? On my Ram there were plastic inner liners available from Mopar that finished off the area nicely. Does anyone make something like that for our trucks?

Grab some Westley's Rubberized Undercoating (pressurized can) and hit those suckers up. Great stuff. Lasts very well, and you can just hit the wheel well with a shot of tire dressing to keep it nice and clean/dark/shiny.

X2. This was something that drove me nuts. I see you're up in MA and you probably get a boat load of salt on the roads in the winter. I cleaned the under the bed about 1ft up from the bottom from front to back and sprayed all that area as well. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time, so hopefully that'll keep corrosion to a minimum. Just make sure you scrub it real well before spraying. I used almost two cans to get it done.

Red face

3-M Professional rubberized undercoat is good, but I think any undercoating holds dirts and sand that hits it. But most people are not going to inspect your wheelwells.

Leave me out of this!

LOL!

Those of you who have sprayed the rubberized liner in your wells... do you have any pictures?

I've been thinking about doing something like this as well... I don't like the look of my rear wells either.

I am guilty of looking at wheel wells....but I too also noticed on the 06's even that the the rear wells seem to have been "blended" paint rather than a full coat.

So am with RP...I would like to see pictures of what others have done with the sprays.

No clear either... or mine don't. The rubberized coating would be a good choice I think...

Maybe even the paint on bedliner stuff? Or is that the same thing?

No pictures, I bought a can of undercoating from Wally World and did mine last summer, it has held up so far, I did do a touch up this spring where some rocks and the pressure washer had made some marks in it.

Thanks WW... how thick is the stuff? Any areas to really avoid when putting it in there?

I guess the application steps would be:

1. Get it clean...
2. Get it cleaner...
3. Get it cleaner than clean...
4. Rough sand?
5. Apply

Thickness depends how long you hold the can in one place, I doubled up in the areas I thought would get the most abuse, just behind the tire. when done it has a wrinkled texture to it and is soft & pliable , you can feel with you finger, Best answer similar to a LineX coating but softer.

Avoid the areas you don't want to look black, I avoided the frame rails and most things already black from the factory. The choice is yours.

Sanding? No I just cleaned with some degreaser and a rag, never had any problem otherwise, I also touch up with gloss black spray paint from time to time just to keep the new shine look to it.
Yes I'm know tire dressing does the same.

As I said earlier I reapply about once a year.
