Depends on the product... Generally speaking though, I prefer a paste as I feel there's less waste and 'soaking' into a application pad.

I typically use liquids -- I suspect mainly just because I became very accustomed to using them back in the 90's when I first started using Meguiar's #7 and #26.

I use both paste and liquid, but I am partial to the paste. I agree with RP.

I also prefer pastes. No real reason, just feel like it.

With pastes you obviously do not get the slop and waste. I also think you have better control of how much or little you are applying. Seems inevitable you will always manage to get the liquid waxes on the plastic, and rubber trim also.

I couldn't imagine waxing an Avalanche with liquid wax.

lol .. last time I did an avalanche, I made the owner tape it off himself ..

I told him he was lucky that I was even touching a chevy truck .. so he needed to pitch in, or I wouldn't do it

(he's my neighbor)

Paste is usually my preference, if I have a choice.

Liquid seems easier to apply and remove to me.

Ba-Hahaha...

I swear I'm going to get my plastic fender trim painted. I hate those things. Maybe even take them off completly. I don't think they add anything much to the looks, except cheapness. Although yours look metal Gip....What gives?

If the truck is cool I will go around it and squirt on the liquid then wip it in. I like whatever gets it done the fastest. My days of being a slave to any vehicle are over.

I will wash frequently so I guess I am still part slave.

Talking Liquid...

Most of the detail shops that I have worked for used liquid. I havent used paste in a long time. I appreciate liquid more, I think it is easier to apply and remove.

Anything by Mcguires is good with me...

Question

Thanx for all the replies!
I have not used paste in years and just wanted to see what the pros here prefer.I clayed my truck today then used Meguiars Polish (part of the 3 step system) and was wanting a good recommendation on a paste wax I can buy at any local store/auto parts store.

At 'any store'. Uhh... Nu Finish is about the only one that pops into my head in the 'any store' category. And, frankly, I don't think I'd go that route.

Can we expand our 'store' criteria? If so, 3M's Perfect-It Paste or Meguiar's #26.

Avoid Meguiar's Gold Class unless you're taking the truck to a show... the shine is killer but the protection is second to most.
