I don't think any of them are what, I at least, would call cheap. I've seen some on eBay that actually are connected for use outside. I know some have them hooked up in their garage, but usually they are the ones that don't have a basement.

I'm pretty sure RockPick has some sorta soft water gizmo he uses. I believe it's portable. Why don't you start a new thread asking him about it. This thread is getting pretty long, he might miss it.

what he is actually asking is which is better gas or elec because hes worried about leaking gas and or oil on his truck... you will actually be fine with a newer gas blower as long as it doesnt burn rich and is well taken care of, i use a blower on my truck after every wash

I've used one for a number of years now (a Stihl 2 stroke) with no problems at all. I started using it when I bought my 20's - which have a series of blind holes drilled in them - apparently for looks. Without the blower, you don't get all the water out and it reappears after you drive it. The neighbors think it's pretty entertaining too.

I've used a gas version several times -- although not every time. I've never had the air cause any oil blotting or similar... how would it exhaust down the blown air? (that's not a smartarse question, I'm honestly interested in knowing because I don't want the possibility of it happening to me).

I've used my Echo backpack blower as well as an old Riobi el-cheapo version that was also 2-stroke.

As for the water filter question -- Here's my review of the Spot-Free 1000 unit

I've never had a problem with exhaust or pre-mix (oil & fuel) getting blown onto anything I've used Stihl on. Technically, one could get something on the finish depending on which way your muffler faces and how rich it was running, but it wouldn't be in the fast moving stream coming out the blower.

I did have one problem with mine this past weekend. I used it on the Scion Xb I just bought to run around in and use less gas than my beloved F-150. When I went to blow it off, I blew it over on its side. No problem though. I just dried the underside, then used the blower to pop it back up.

I use a backpack Echo, I love it. I've never had any issues with water spotting or oil being blown onto the paint and I've been doing this for about 2 years. Having black, the least amount of time I can spend touching the paint, the better!

Hye,

I use my shop-vac, the blower side. So far it works great! no water spots or anything. Fast too!
