What are people using to clean your tires?

Simple Green 1:1 and a nylon bristled brush. I avoid Westley's 99 times out of 100 now due to the potential problems that it could cause on some wheels under the right conditions.

SG is much more user friendly and, in my honest opinion, does just as good of a job -- it may require more scrubbing but, it's a much safer chemical.

I know the the dangers of Westley's Belach White, but I think it works alot better than SG. I've used it on a dozen vehicles (several times) with no problems.

It's like I said... just a personal preference.

dupont wheel cleaner. Works great on the tire with white letters, and safe to use on your paint to help remove bugs.

My advice:

BW on all cars that have torn up rims (ie: curbscar, scratches, hubcaps, etc)

SG on all cars with rims that still look nice/decent.

I agree, BW is faster, but it's not always worth the risk. Sometimes, though, it's well worth it. SG, on the other hand, is safer, therefore virtually no risk, but may take longer to be as effective. The question is: "Do you feel lucky?"

Whestly's Bleach White. Used for years, no problem. Best thing I have found.

I like to use WBW also, but I am a little concerned about the long term effects of (accidental/over-spray) exposure to such a harsh chemical on my coated wheels.

What I do is whenever I wash my truck, the first step is to do the wheels/wells/tires. I mix up a little bit stronger soap dilution for the dedicated wheel bucket, maybe 2 oz to a gallon and a half of water.

First, I soap-up the wheel real good, get it all lathered up, and then I CAREFULLY spray the tire with bleach white, and scrub it good with my tire brush, all the time the wheel is still lathered up with soap. I feel this takes away any risk if I get some WBW on the wheels during the tire cleaning.

Once the tire is scrubbed up, I rinse the whole thing, then start in on cleaning just the wheel. It takes about twenty minutes to do all 4 tire/wheels/wheel-wells.

Another vote for Bleach White, just be careful spraying it on and you can keep it off the wheel. Be aware if there's wind so you don't get overspray on your paint or inhale the mist, it's nasty stuff!

I've always had great luck with Michelin wheel and tire cleaner. Also, I've found that the brush used makes all the difference in the world.

I got this brush from Tropi-Care and it does a mush better job cleaning my tires than an older OXO brush that I had been using. I have seen similar brushes at detail shops in my area.
