This Weekend's Detail - 2005 F-150 Lariat SCREW - 56K Warning!

Being that this is a member's truck, I wanted to show it off just a tad. I'm not going to do the long write up like last time but, I will tell you that the following were the 'main' products used on the paint:

1. #21 Synthetic Sealant (DA)
2. #80 Speed Glaze (DA)
3. #83 Dual-Action Cleaner Polish (DACP) (rotary w/ wool pad)
4. #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax (hand)
5. #7 Show Car Glaze (DA)

The subject vehicle -- It's really not in too bad of shape visually. A few straight line scratches and a few water etching marks. Nothing out of the ordinary. The paint feels very rough but, overall, it's solid.





This is why the paint felt so rough -- This, my friends, was my bar after doing a 2 X 3' area on the hood. I thrashed a full bar of clay on this one and had to clay it twice - even three times in some areas.

Always have to highlight the wheels and wells... a personal pet-peeve on any detailed vehicle.

It was a pretty day yesterday... This is the hood.



Check out those calves... LOL!



And, finally... that georgous Lariat interior... That black carpet is a booger!

Can you give me the order in which you used thos products RP?

BTW It looks AWESOME, I really like that color!!!!!

I have #7, #21, and then #80 and some yellow caranuba...

#80 == #7 == #21== #26

The #83 was tossed in there to deal with some of that water spotting that I mentioned.... I got sick of tinkering with it with the #80 and pulled out the wool.

Looks real nice!! How long did it take you for all those steps?
were can I get some of that product at?

About 12 total hours. It turned out *REALLY* good. As for the products -- Click Here...

Yikes! I just did the same today with our Ford Excursion and I probably should have used 2 clay bars. I still didn't finish this vehicle for my wife, but I got a chance to try out some new products, including Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss. Wow! This stuff is GREAT! I really like the Duagloss car wash soap, but this newer CG car wash soap is super cost effective (1/4oz per gallon of water). I mixed it stronger because this vehicle sits outside 24/7 and spends a good amount of time off road and I wanted it to cut through the nasty filth. It did just that and without me using much pressure. It also left the finish nice and glossy.

Nice work there. Nice product choices too. Great reflection shots. And those wheel wells look great. That's a pet peeve of mine too. Your work is definitely firing on all cylinders with attention to every last detail

Thanks qadsan. I appreciate it. The more I work with #21, the more I like it. I've been doing some extensive reading on it as of late as I had generally pushed it to the back of my aresonal. After reading a blurb from someone over on DC about it and a dark vehicle, I decided to try it on this vehicle.

My typical choice would've probably been MPPP in the #21 slot but, I wanted to experiment a tad... it turns out, the #21 and #7 combo on this color with this amount of metallic flake really worked VERY well. Finishing with the #26 was a solid choice... it really put the icing on the cake in my eyes.

After doing this truck, I really started to miss my old truck...

I really like #21. I think it's a solid choice for pretty much anything and it's lasts a good long time. And #20 is also great, but it has more cleaning power. I like #20 better for the trailers and RV's I do (saves me a bit of work), but I also like the Duragloss TPP 105. There's lots of great choices out there

Thanks for bringing up #26. I'm going to have to break out some #26 again this week as I haven't touched the stuff in a while (too much to choose from), but I really like the way it glows on some colors.

That's a great shot of your truck. I also like the scenery. Is that part of your yard or ???
