Orbital buffer and paint.

Also, keep in mind that many carnauba-based waxes out there also have light cleaners in them. This is exactly the type of product that you do not want to 'layer' with as the cleaners will remove some of the previous layer that is on the paint. FYI.
so if my plan was to:
1.wash
2.clay
3.polish (with step 2 of megs 3 step)
4.nxt
5.#26
then throwing the cleaner wax (included in my megs clay kit) would have to go in either before or after step 5 and would be pointless as it would break down my nxt? so just not use it? do i have this straight??

Is every 3 months safe to do the dawn dish soap treatment?

Dawn will strip oils out of anything... hence, your clearcoat has it's fair share of oils and oil-like substances that help keep your clearcoat from cracking, drying out, and becoming brittle.
We've all seen 'fairly new' vehicles (less than 10 years old) that are WHITE... that's a combo of clear failure and oxidation. Odds are, that particular vehicle has been frequently washed with HARSH cleaners (touchless washes or Dawn/Joy etc). It *will* strip out what's in your paint (and moldings and everywhere else).
Once per year absolute max in my opinion...
Think about it -- if you're abrasively polishing your vehicle, what's the point in using Dawn to 'strip' what is on your paint? Doesn't the abrasive polish cut through that VERY VERY VERY thin layer of wax (or even multiple coats of wax)?

Well, you wouldn't want to put the carnauba-based cleaner wax down BEFORE the NXT synthetic. It kind of defeats the purpose -- mind you, even the NXT has a slight cleaner in it.
While I don't think that Meg's Cleaner Wax would remove *all* of the NXT previously laid down on the paint, I do think that it'd put a significant dent in the coverage and, ultimately, the protection.

RP - I truly wish you lived near me. I'd gladly pay to come over and watch one of your detailing sessions or have you do my truck just to be able to pick your brain for an afternoon. Guess I'll just have to settle for the little tidbits we get online here.
That's what makes this the best F150 board on the bet, the wealth of expertise and willingness to share their information.

No problem. If you're up this way sometime, let me know. We'll grab a frosty ice water or something...
