Ultimate 303 test

Ultimate 303 test
These are my old vinyl house shutters I either was painting with Fusion or throwing them out for new. Anyway, I figured what he heck I'd try the 303 Aerospace protectant first just for craps and giggles. Pretty dramatic results considering how bad these shutters are UV'ed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
After one coat of 303. Not bad, but for me, unacceptable--a real let down.

After two coats of 303 it was definitely better but still splotchy in areas.

This, after the third coat of 303. Totally acceptable. If this stuff can make these shutters look like this after 3 applications under extreme (texture) conditions like this, I think it speaks for itself just how well 303 performs.

Picture of a new shutter on garage. The 303 shutter in the middle. Then the old faded shutter obviously.

Yes, but you will have to reapply after every rain.
You don't have to use Fusion paint. Clean them well with TSP and paint them with a quality latex house paint.
I've already been there and done that with mine. 3 years on the paint so far and the only touchup needed was where I hit with the pressure washer while washing the house.
Most cans of exterior latex paints will actually list vinyl as a common application.

So does a can of latex paint (probably cheaper as well).
I thought I had read on here about streaking on trucks from the 303 running after rains. That tells me that it's washing off. (maybe it takes 3-6 months).
One sure way to find out...
rz, go hit those things with the water hose for us.

Honestly I would like to know how well this stuff works and holds up. If it lasts like that I would get some just to use in my boat and on a few other things around the house.
Was your furniture faded to begin with?

Sure I'll spray it with the hose. I just came in the house, so I will spray it tomorrow and post the picture. That was a good idea too. I never thought of doing that.
And NO, not hardly. I'm not getting up on my second level to reapply 303 every so often. This was just a real good litmus test to see how well 303 actually is or if it would be considered just another trendy product. I'm sold. I don't necessarily like the 3 coats side of it however, not for the price, but it was used under extreme conditions.

Yeah, that 303 is amazing stuff. After the first application I wouldn't have given a plug nickle for 303--meaning: I didn't think it would look any better with multiple coats. I know Armor All wouldn't have.
The latex paint is an excellent idea. However, I only have four of these to replace. New ones are very inexpensive--$20.00, if that.
Thank you very much for the great tip though. I hope some others will be able to use it.
