Waffle weave from Wal-Mart

If anybody is interested, I picked up a couple more of the waffle weave towels from Wal-Mart I was talking about in a previous thread. You have to purchase these in the House Wares department, not the automotive dept.. They are 16x26 and made of 77% polyester and 23% polyamide. I really like them for the paltry price of a $1.50 each. Comes in a two pack.

Yes, they are made in China. I think there are only a handful of company's that make MF stuff. I'm not sure on that however.

I use them to blot dry with on my truck. They work very well on the windows also. Very absorbent very soft. I did the burned side CD test (for what that's worth) and they don't scratch the CD.

I think they are well made. They do not have the hard thread stitching around the hem. When you pick them up they have some heft to em. You can just tell they are not a regular type dish towel.

I might consider giving them a shot on a test vehicle, but I'm a bit skeptical... Even auto-specific ones aren't that cheap, and they are of low quality... If yours are good, though, I may be stocking up.

On the flip side, I like having white (or any light color) for my towels because you can EASILY see the contamination, and know when it's time to demote it to lesser parts of the vehicles, or even lesser vehicles. That's one clear advantage that your find has. We'll see!

I tried to get the price tag in there but it didn't come out so well. If you look real close you can see they are $2.96. One other thing I forgot to mention I never have gotten any lint with these towels either. They really soak up the water.

I found a link that tells the story all about MF toweling. It's a good read. I think these Wally World towels meet this criteria.

I'm not one to typically jump in and pee on a parade but, rusty... these towels are garbage compared to oodles of other towels on the market.

As I've mentioned, I own these... and have for many moons. The quality is second to just about everything and I'm not sure I'd ever consider 'wiping' them across my paint.

To each their own but, they're lousy in my opinion... lousy at best.

They are dedicated wheel/fender lip towels in my stash and, in fact, a couple of them have been discarded.

My opinion... go ahead and spend a couple of bucks and get a nice towel... paint problem removal is a PITA -- these towels BEG for problems, IMO.

That's OK....... I just put them up there so others could see them. As I said I've only used them to blot dry and for the windows. I just liked the price. Getting them away from the wife is the bigger challenge.

Tell her that she can have them, but that you'll have to go to Autozone and get some to replace the loss...

I can just imagine your towel collection. Are they all in bins labled for their specific use?
