Question Wax For My F350

I own a 2005 F350 Crew Cab and it has an 8' bed. I went and purchased Meguiar's NXT Wax, ScratchX and PlasticX to shine up my truck. My question is will one bottle at 18 fl. oz. be enough to wax the truck? Has anyone ever used these products?

Remember when waxing, thinner is better. Unless you apply it ungodly thick, the 18 oz bottle of NXT will be plenty enough for 1 truck plus some.

Yes, it will be more than enough. I can wax my extended cab long bed many times on one bottle of wax.

Yes it'll be PLENTY!

What color is your truck? I'd recommend you use the NXT as a base coat of wax followed with a carnuba if it's a darker color. If its a lighter color, just do two coats of NXT. Allow 12-24 hours between each coat otherwise you'll be wasting your time. I like #26 as a carnuba, it goes on and off amazing and gives such a wet look.

If you don't have a reason to use the PlastX, I wouldn't recommend using it. It is an abrasive polish for plastics and thus, if you don't have small scratches (don't expect miracles) or haze, I wouldn't recommend jumping in to it.

That said, if you do have problems, it can be a fairly effective product.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Mind you, that was accomplished with 2000 grit, a bunch of elbow grease, and a rotary buffer with a wool pad.

Back to wax... you'll like NXT for simplicity and, as was previously mentioned, you'll definitely want to apply VERY thin (remember, you're only leaving behind a VERY thin layer of protection -- why waste the product by slathering it on?).

If you really want to step it up, you may want to further assess other options. I mean, I'm not sure if you're looking to spend 4 hours or are willing to spend 4 days on your truck. If you're more on the latter end of that scale, there are other products and procedures that you should definitely consider that will further remove any swirls and other problem areas (oxidation etc) that may be beneficial to your outcome.

Anyone can smack on a coat of a wax. It's the prep work that will end up yielding the high-end results that most demand -- not the last step wax product.

Good luck with your truck!

Thank you for the help. I will take all weekend working on my truck. I also want to paint the underneath of my truck and detail my motor. I will have this truck for a long time so I want to do what it takes to make it last.I just got a buffer due to the size of my truck.
