Things don't add up here:
4-6 hours of work guesstimated
1 friend
1 Twelve pack

I suggest:
More beer, more time, more friends
More friends mean more beer, more BS and less work done
You need a whole weekend (and more beer because there is no acceptable reason for de-hydration on this forum).)

Thanks for sending the sticky a few days ago. A+ grade for you. Concise with crisp recommendations on what products to use really helps know what to use. Any chance on discussing what other slightly less quality products would be acceptable to newbies like me to use as we climb up the learning curve?

Bonus, are you doing to do this by hand?

This is what I would do if you are going to do on Sat.

Hit your local AutoZone and pick up the Megs Clay kit. Buy an extra bottle of Megs Quick Detailer.

In addition, buy some MF applicators (Microfiber) and some MF towels.
Get the Megs 3 step products there.

Process:
Wash (two bucket method process if you can)
Dry
Clay
Work on problem areas
Polish
Wax.

When you buy a DA, this changes everthing.

If you are doing this in like a week or two let us know that and we'll get list built up for you to buy from ADS etc.

JP
Is the Clay process necessary?

Absolutely. It makes an incredible difference. It's like the difference between having wax on the truck and not having wax on the truck. If you're going to put in the effort for all this, you may as well clay bar as well!

What does the clay bar help with or do for the truck? I don't even know what a clay bar is? I could use some tips on washing the truck as well, as i only use soap and water. Thanks a lot guys.

Clay bar pulls out a lot of the microscopic contaminants that regular washing leaves behind. All it is is a piece of clay that you rub on the paint using a lubricating spray. It basically makes the paint look and feel like new.

Also, for washing use a good quality car wash (Meguiar's crystal car wash, for example), and a good sponge. Do the two bucket method also. One bucket with soapy water, and the other with clean water for rinsing the sponge so you don't put dirt right back into the soapy water. Never use regular dish soap either, unless you want to take off all the wax.

So can i get that stuff at say O'Reillys or Advance or something? I live in a small town and not many real big auto parts stores or what not around me. I didn't know that regular dish soap hurt when washing

You can get a good over the counter claybar by called Clay Magic. This can be found at Autozone,Advanced, etc. You can't go wrong with Megiuars for a good over the counter brand.

Well heres the deal, i wash with dish soap and then dry, nothing spectacular. What would i need to start washing it right, like wheel cleaner and tire cleaner, soap, wax etc. I dont want to bust my wallet but i'll spend some money. What do you guys suggest?

Look earlier in this thread for f-150sport03 where ne mentions his
detailing sticky, email him and he will send it. It tells you exactly what you are asking without doing a lot of searches on this site because there is so much info on here it can be confusing at first.
