Thumbs up Did a 5 hour detail today

I started by washing with Gold wash. Then I did the claybar thing.I had it clayed about 3 months ago but it seems they did a quicky job.I then washed it again and "interstate" dried it.When I returned home I blotted any wet spots with my huge microfiber towel.I then did the Meguiers 3 step system;cleaner, polish, then wax.Oh,I also did under the hood too.I used scrubbing bubbles, rinsed, let it air dry then sprayed everything down with silicone spray.
I have pics to show my work but don't know how to download them here.Any help on how to do this?
BTW,my arms feel like "Popeye" arms after all this rubbing!

It does for me.I usually drive a stretch that is 4 miles one way, turn around at the exit and come back the other way. The speed limit is 70 mph.

Damn I need to try this....

Theres a drive through car wash thats like 25 yards from a freeway, I could run it through there then go fast on the freeway, come home, and do my detail!

You dont ever want to detail after a drive through carwash. The only time to ever detail is after a good soapy, suddy, bucket wash and rinse. Drive throughs only get the grime off, non of the real stuff.

But you can always bucket wash at the drive through..... They usually frown on that tho.

Yes, the freeway drying method works well as long as you stop and get the hard to dry spots like the tailgate, back window, and Etc. by hand with a micro-fiber towel before it spots.

The only drawback is you sometimes get fresh micro-roadkill (insects) in the summer.

I definately dont agree with using the freeway drier, but to each is own. too much crap gets right back on the paint... (Although it is how I dried after my last wash, it is NOT what I use before touching the paint with anythign else)

BTW-- Favre-- your rims are SWEET.

just throwing in my two cents here, using a leaf blower works very well for drying a truck. it gets the water out of all the gaps in the body work so you dont have drips running down your paint later.

What do you do as far the leaf blower?

Wipe it down at all prior to leaf blower?

Like....

Wash, soap up, wash down again, get out leaf blower, blow dry.

That what you do?

I might have to try that :P

wash, rinse, run the water over the body panel to sheet most of the water off, leaf blow all the cracks starting at the top. You should be able to get about 80% of the water off with the blower. The way I get the rest is spray Megs Ultimate detailer on the truck in sections and wipe the truck down with a Megs waffle weave drying towel. Works great everytime for me atleast. Good luck, oh and it helps if you have a garage, carport, tent, ect.

If you have compressed air, its even better then a leaf blower. Like stated I feel the best way to truly dry a car is run flowing water over from top to bottom to sheet the water away, then use compressed air/leaf blower to blow the air out of the cracks then finish up with a SOFT towel that was not dried using dryer sheets, these create tiny scratches and over time add up.

This time of year it's usually raining or about to rain when I wash the truck (As the sun sets 4-7 pm). Drying is for winter months. (I live in SW FL). I washed my truck Sunday, and had to take a lightning break. I later found out there were F2 tornados messing things up only 5 miles away. My windows are spotty, but then again it's rained on it twice since I washed...
