Refinished Rims

Well everybody, I did the unthinkable, refinished my aluminum rims for under $100. I used no-name brand stripper and dupli color paint and clear coat. It turned out very well, I was plesantly surprised with my results. I did this because the local wheel refinisher wanted about $180 to do only one wheel.

After

Very inspiring. I have the same wheels, but they have been boxed up and on the shelf for a few years now. I may give the refinishing a try with white in the slots to match my truck.

Yeah Im the same person who posted about this about a month ago. I think they turned out great. If any one has any questions about how I did them I took a few pics along the way. I have a few more in my gallery if any one wahts to chek them out. I only need to get a new set of tires for them now. I bought the rims for $100 at a swap meet. I guess the people who had them wanted to get rid of them pretty bad. I was gonna color match the tear drops to the truck but better judgement said it might look to ghetto.

It does look good, really good, especially the darker paint recessed parts. I'm probably going to do the same as I have always liked this design of wheel and see no reason to replace, just refinish. That darker grey is why 97 Mustang GT rims look way better than the 96, 17" rims. Remember, the 97's had the darker grey vs the light almost cast finish of the 96.
