Nice Job

[QUOTE=RollingRock]Stayed up until 1 am working on the paint under the lights last night, got early and finished up.

Didn't want to go too crazy on this one so I stayed away from SSR3. I did try a section with Optimum but I wasn't seeing the results I wanted even with a Lake Yellow cut pad and the DA on 6. So I went to PoorBoys.

What I used today:

I ran into a lot of old product build up (See other thread) which added some time to the process.

The results

First your toy looks better then NEW awesome job.

1. Did you Clay first?
2. If you would have Clayed, would it have removed the old product?
3. With all the old product on the paint to protect it, way would it have anything wrong with it the paint that is?
4. I have been under the impression that you would like the buildup. What is wrong with letting it build?
5. Glazes and polishes do they build up or is it the wax?

These are just question and not criticism, your truck looks great and no one can argue with that. What a testimony to the PoorBoys products also.

What pads did you use with each step?

Thanks for all the great information

For all the sun ****'s.

First your toy looks better then NEW awesome job. JP-Thank you.
1. Did you Clay first?

JP-yes after washing using Dawn, claying took 2.5 hours to so.

2. If you would have Clayed, would it have removed the old product?

JP-I used Megs Blue and it was't comming off, so I used some ScratchX to take it off quicker then reclayed the area. I only had build up in 6-10 places.

3. With all the old product on the paint to protect it, way would it have anything wrong with it the paint that is?
JP-Not sure I follow this one.

4. I have been under the impression that you would like the buildup. What is wrong with letting it build?

JP-hard to really answer this...old product build up is a result of stacking and "patching" until you can take it all off and start over. My situation was that I had been hunting a lot which gave me a lot of micro marring and some new scrathes then I got my liner put in which marred up my tail gate pretty good. So rather than doing a full detail several times I tried to cover up some of the marks with various products as a tempoary fix until I can go at it.

5. Glazes and polishes do they build up or is it the wax?

JP-This was stacked wax. PoorBoys Nattys toped with Quick Wax Plus (Some one wrote on my tailgate in the dust so I fixed it with the QW+, that is again a temp solution)

These are just question and not criticism you truck looks great and no one can argue with that. What a testimony to the PoorBoys products also. JP-Thanks, I am pleased with the results.

That pads did you use with each step?
  • SSR 2, Yellow Lake Pad
  • SSR 1, Green Lake Pad
  • Pooboys Polish, White Lake Pad
  • EX-P, Blue Lake Pad
  • 845, Megs Foam Appliactor.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

BTW, I am IN LOVE with this MF's
