In A Drought...

Well here in Garner, North Carolina.. We're in a severe drought and i cant wash my car at home and am forced to go to the quarter car wash... No time for buckets.. I can't scrub w/ that horrible brush they supply there... So what do you guys think would be the best way to wash there?

I simply- - -
1. Spray rims with Hotrims.
2. Spray car down with pressure washer.
3. Spray with soap water out of pressure washer.
4. Dry with microfiber..
5. Spray excess dirt/film off w/ QD
(and when detailing apply the necessary goodies afterwards)

--Should i use my wash mitt any?
Also, What's a grit guard?

Rock, Where ya at? I got some more questions for ya.
Hahaha

Do you have the option to simply utilize the quarter wash's water? If so, pack your full wash kit (during off hours of course) and hand wash it. I do this during the winter months here and have actually had several plesant conversations with the wash's owner.

While some wash owners will raise a stink about bucket washers, he sees it as a win/win. 1 - his wash bay is typically empty around 10pm at night (when I typically go) and 2 - water is the highest priced/largest margin item for him (no chemical usage and about the same amount of water usage). Heck, the guy even tossed a couple of detailing customers my way...

Another option is QEW (google Quick Easy Wash).

If possible, I'd avoid the chemicals at the wash. While some can be okay (at best), most are pretty concentrated and can readily strip wax (Navi would have a fit coming into this thread... you out there 98Navi?)

I can't get access to just the water... Being as its on a timer.. Id have to pay 2.50 to fill up a bucket (and rinse for like 3 mins) and 2.50 if i wanted to rinse off after scrubbed down. And thats just pointless to me.. haha

I'll look into quick easy wash.. Hopefully the water restrictions will be lifted to allow washing on the weekends here shortly though!
Once agian, thanks.

Oh, and i forgot, the wash i go to says "uses only the best black magic solutions" So i'm not sure if they are too concentrated like you said or not, but hopefully it ain't to bad.

Pack your water to the wash (I've been known to do this so that I could have a bucket full of HOT water/wash solution so that I wouldn't totally freeze my **** off).

They're all concentrated... you should see the stuff. It comes in a cardboard box (obviously containing a baggie of liquid). The total box size is about the size of a shoe box. I'm told that that particular box of wash solution will last around a week with 'normal usage' at the wash. It's all tied to a metering system...

Use it if you want... you're not going to cause irreversable damage with a one'zy or two'zy try but, you may need to rewax afterwards. Under *no* circumstance should you use the foamy brush. I know you know this but, just reiterating it.
