When to wax 1 month old

I just picked up my 2008 king Ranch on Dec.14th.

How long should I wait to wax it. Is it better to go ahead and put a coat on when it's new?

You will get responses from the elders of this forum that the paint from the factory is ok to wax as soon as you get vehicle. I would suggest you read the sticky if you haven't already to prepare you for getting your paint ready to wax.

Get wax on that thing -- time's wasting.....

Don't forget the other goodies -- claying, polishing, etc.....

yes, yes and yes again.

Best way to get the rail dust, sap, pollen etc off the paint to prep the surface.

If got a new truck, I would do the following.

Inspect it for swirls (I better not see any but at the dealer prep area, they tend to include them)
Wash
Clay
Mild Polish
Seal
Wax

Yes ...

The first night I got my new car home, I had already clayed, #9 and #80 and the first coat of NXT. By the second day it had two coats of NXT and a coat of #26. Trust me, do it in the very beginning. It makes taking care of it that much easier.

as mentioned above .. yes.

the paint picks up a tond of crap from rail dust during transport to pollution from sitting around in lots, to any number of other things.

you will remove a ton of crap you didn't expect when you clay it the first time.

waxing done

well I waxed the 1 month old today. I started to clay bar the entire vehicle. I did pick up some dirt off of the hood, but that was it. the sides of the vehicle had nothing for the clay to pick up. i waxed it with NXT, This was mt first time to use the NXt and I was impressed. It was very, very easy to remove.

i just hope it last, I typically only wax about 3 times a year.

Thanks for the advice

If you aren't **** about swirls and a deep shine, NXT every 4 months should do you just fine. Reclay once a year?

If you're only going to re wax every three months than I'd suggest applying another coat of NXT after 12 hours. I didn't pick too much dirt up off of my paint but it did make a huge difference in the feel of the paint.

The rule of thumb on clay is similar to most car care products -- use as needed.

I'm frequently visiting an industrial site and using my vehicle as a daily driver on a lot of highway trips (to and fro work) so, the clay frequency that I use may not be the same for the next guy.

The best thing to do is to individually assess your paint. There's no rule of thumb or silver bullet here. Feel your paint after it's been clayed and remember that feel... when you feel that it's time to get back to that point, it's time to clay again!
