why wax over fresh Wax?

I just applied NXT today, I have read where some people will apply Carnuba or another wax on top of that after 12 hrs. what does that do for you? will it increase the durability ?

the nXT will give durability after 12 hours.it will bond to the truck and applying a 2nd coat of carnuba will bring depth to the paint.
carnuba wax gives better depth to a paint job better than synthetic wax.
as far as more durability goes...it will add some too.

Thanks, I might do it tomorrow, the wax should come off easy with a fresh coat of NXT on it right?

depends on how long you will leave the next coat on before buffing it out.dont let the 2nd coat dry all the way.itll be hard to take it off.just let it haze and wipe/buff it out.

While it *will* offer some additional durability, most of us are putting a carnauba-based wax over the NXT for appearance.

To many of us, many synthetics yield a glossy appearance that lacks depth. You'll often refer this look as the 'suran-wrap' look. The carnauba will deepen the look (especially on dark colors) and, in many peoples' opinions, make the look much better.

That said, you can see how particular some of us are...

Two coats of NXT will offer a long lasting protection as well as making sure you've achieved an even coverage of the product. Yes, you should wait 12 hours before the second application of NXT, so the product has time to cure otherwise you could be wasting product and your time. A carnuba wax is recommended for dark colors on top of the synthetic wax, like NXT. The carnuba will offer a light level of protection on top of the NXT but it will make the paint much deeper and give it that wet look most of us are after. I hope that helps, feel free to ask any other questions, we're all here to help.

Depends on the wax. Some should dry to set up.

A 2nd coat is also recommended to ensure even coverage and protection.

I disagree with this...

If you're applying in VERY thin and even coats, you will not have any problem with removal. Last Step Products need to dry to the paint.

No, each coat should. Some say to a "haze," which essentially is pretty much dry.

I'm still over at MOL frequently but, I rarely login/post. After being a moderator there for around a year and training in Irvine at corporate headquarters, I've had my fill of Meg's questions that get asked over and over and over and over and over.

Sometimes it's better (and easier - no corporate headaches) to be a fly on the wall...
