Question for RockPick

I am happy to report that a new 2008 Shelby GT500 black with dark graphite grey stripes(taped on not painted) will share the stable with my 04 Crew. I would like to protect my new investment with a couple coats of NXT.
Ay advice on protecting the stripes? Can I use the NXT on them as well? Any other recomendations in regards to the stripe or paint protection on the new one.
Thanks in advance and appreciated.
Norm

I'm definitely not RP, but make sure you put it in the agreement that the dealership will NOT wash the car. I'd even tell them to leave the white plastic on it.

The car should be clayed because there will be contaminents in the paint. Use a very light clay for this. Something like Mothers, Swissvax Paint Rubber, Sonus green, or Pinnacle Poly. After that the car will probably need a light polish to remove minor imperfections that will be in the paint. Your NXT has fillers in it, so you could use that to hide some of the lighter things. However, if you want to remove the imperfections then you'll need a polish and a buffer. I recommend the Porter Cable 7424 and Menzerna 106FF. 106FF should be used to remove VERY VERY light imperfections. As you finish buffing each panel, wipe it down with alcohol/ water and inspect the panel to make sure all imperfections were removed. Then once you finish polishing you can apply your NXT.

Congrats on the new purchase.

I already have an agreement in place so that they don't wash it. I'm particular about washing myself. Good point.
I've got mothers clay, so I'm all set there. But my question is how to treat the stick on GT stripes. Not sure on that one.

You can wax or put a sealant on them. If you use a polish, make sure it is something extremely light and use a very soft pad. Ive done this before and it actually helped the swirls in the decals. Granted, the polish had fillers in it.
