Have you ever used it? I would think that stuff would be too harsh?

Glass: Use Bar Keepers Friend to remove water spots on glass and mirrors. With a damp cloth, wipe with a small amount of Bar Keepers Friend. Dry and buff with a soft cloth for best results.

Q: Can I use Bar Keepers Friend to clean windows such as windshields, shower doors, mirrors, etc...?
A: Yes, Bar Keepers Friend does contain a mild abrasive, but will not scratch glass.

That's from their website.

Why's that? What's changed over the years? Glass or newspaper?

Find yourself some good MF towels for windows and you should be fine.
Agreed Waffle Weave streak free towels work good as well, thats what ive been using.

I never had waterspot problems that were severe. Clay seems to work wonders but you might try using the stove top cleaner that is used on the glass top kitchen stoves. I believe I got it at Home Depot. Its similar to applying a compound. sponge it on and rub it in, when it dries to a haze, wipe it off

That also happens to be a recommended use for Bar Keepers Friend.

I have a glass cooktop, and I'm still on the bottle of polish that it came with.

I should update the thread...

My windows are clean. I used a products called Nothin's Better to get the spots off. The product is from a local glass shop (and maybe other places?), and is a fine white powder... it is abbrasive enough to get the spots out, but not too harsh that it scratches.

After the spots were gone I followed up with some Rain-x for a little protection against the sprinklers.
