ADS Shipment arrvied

I got my DA today.

For some reason I received a 4" backing plate. I didn't even know they made them that small. I can't see that working with a 6.5" pad. Luckily I'm close enough to SM to get one in time for this weekend.

The backing plate is approximately 4.75" across to accomodate the 5" velcro disc on the back of a standard 6.5" pad.

You likely have the correct backing plate.

It looks way too small. Atleast 1" of pad on each side of the plate. Seems like it would be very difficult to get the pad completely centered.

Sounds about right.

I'm getting my shipment on the 11th, hopefully.

Lake VC pads require a 6" backing plate. That plate will work for you, just center it and keep the pad flat on the surface.

Will work fine until you get a 6" backing plate.

I'll just mark that off my list of things I told you. "make sure you get a 6" backing plate"

This situation would of been avoided had you just bought Meguiar pads.

Remember Tony, beer/booze works as equipment rental fees... no Natty Light!

Kind of where I was going with it until you interjected... *shrugs*

Actually, I've read where several folks actually like the smaller plate better than the LC larger backing plate as they feel like they can get into tighter spots easier and still have enough surface on the 4.75" plate to get enough downward and constant pressure across the working face of the pad...

Preference, I suppose...

I have some LC pads and have always used the 'normal' backing plate with them -- it works just fine.

Sent an e-mail to Rick and he confirmed that it is the correct plate. Thanks for all the advice fellas.

I went ahead and ordered a bigger plate from SM. It'll be fun to compare the two. Also have a CCS pad to play with.

RR, my mom doesn't have me around her finger. That's another story for another day.

If you wanna come "help" out with the Mazda and drink some beers I'd love the company.. Saturday.
