Claying it will work too...

I had industrial fallout and rail dust on my truck with little rust spots, and I got it out using a DA polisher and lots of cleaner wax. Some said it might damage the paint...

But I was careful how I did it by changing the pads every section of the truck.

Wash
CLAY
polish
wax

The Meguiars clay kit comes with two tiny clay bars - too small to break in half, that's why they put 2 in there. SOAK the panel with QD and start rubbing.

Read the detailing sticky and download the guide.

Please don't post in this section, we don't need your bad advice.

Im going to have to agree with Thumper. Might as well just take sand paper to the paint.

Not sure how it's 'bad advice'. Nor am I sure about the basis for the implied notion that he gives out 'bad advice' on a regular occasion...

Quite the contrary, actually...

While you may disagree with the post, it'd be more advantageous for everyone for you to explain why you disagree rather than just ripping the author a new arsehole.

By doing that hes grinding the particles into the paint. That stuff needs to be removed before you take a buffer to it.

Micromarring could be present without it being able to be shown in a photo, though.

Sorry Rock, but those photos dont prove anything. Im guessing the product used filled in the majority of the damage that was done by the dust. Do an alcohol or prep- sol wipe down and the imperfections will show. Hell, that truck could be COVERED in swirls and those pictures wouldnt show it. You guys cant honestly think buffing paint that has contaminants all over it is safe.
