Mothers PowerBall 4Paint™
Has anyone heard about this or used one? I saw an ad for it in Car & Driver.
PowerBall 4Paint™ makes short work of polishing and waxing large surfaces, contoured edges and difficult, hard-to-reach areas. Simply attach it to your drill, apply polish or wax, and give any painted finish that showroom quality shine, especially clearcoats. Hundreds of gentle foam fingers work efficiently to give you unmatched coverage with ease. For best results, we recommend you use it with your favorite Mothers® products.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Stay safe... Dont use the powerball on paint.
Although technically it is the same principle as the pads we use now (ie: foam), please note that it is not able to change from a cutting pad to a soft one for applying a wax... Also note that it is almost certainly a lower quality.
Furthermore, note that a drill is not dual action, thus you will be working at whatever revolutions your drill works at, which would be magnified since it is a SMALL area you are working on at once (ie: say you are thinking x revolutions for a rotary, even though your drill is turning at say 1/2*x, it would accomplish the same effect...), giving you a HUGE opportunity to screw everything up.
And as a last note, keep in mind that since it is used for a 1 pass wonder (not to mention with Mothers A-line products, which are not typically as powerful as professional ones), the ball will remove a LOT in a short order. This is great for the guys that want to buy it and use it once or twice to make their cars look better, but HORRIBLE for a detailer-- remember that you have a finite amount of clear...
That's just my 2 cents... Please dont take offense to my thoughts about this.
