That is a "fine" grade clay. If that didn't get it off, you may need to bump it up to the C-2000 Mild clay. A bit more aggressive.

I aksed the question about the sponges a while back and the elders said I was better off to get the clay. You also get what you pay for as well when it comes to this stuff. Listen to the elders they are wise and all knowing

If you read carefully, you will find that the quantity of clay (in grams) when you buy the clay-only is a lot more than you get in the kit, hence the higher cost. The white clay in the kit is a very mild clay for "untrained" consumer use, the other clays are primarily for professional use by trained/experienced people. I'm not surprised that the white clay didn't do much with the overspray, you need to use something more aggressive CAREFULLY. The body sponge appears to work like one of the more aggressive clays and there's a specific technique involved to prevent damage.

ok so the sponge is ok but what is this techinique? the problem is that the normal white clay is enough for the rest of my truck so i dont want to purchase a mass quatity of the red or blue and then only use a little. thats why i was wondering if the cheaper sponge would work. what about the mr clean magic eraser-ive heard that that does similar things.

You're better off investing in some blue clay. It's pretty hard to muck things up with it, and it's a lot better than the white clay. It's about twice as much as the white clay kit, and costs about twice as much as well.

I only use white on windows now.

Just get the blue. You get a lot of clay, so it is worth it, and it does a better job. The sponge has mixed reviews, a lot of which I hear it marrs the paint so you would need to clean the paint again after using it.

Windows pick up the same contaminants that paint does. You'd be surprised how much you pick up off your windows.

The Meguiars White Clay is fine if you keep up with your paint. Personally I've never had to use anything more aggressive than the Meguiars White clay that comes in the "Smooth Surface Kit" on my vehicles.

Good advice! Plus you can cut the blue clay into thirds or halves. If you already clayed with white, then the blue that you use next shouldn't be that dirty so you can use again IMO. Just take a look at it after you are done for grime to make that determination.
