If you read carefully, you will find that the quantity of clay (in grams) when you buy the clay-only is a lot more than you get in the kit, hence the higher cost. The white clay in the kit is a very mild clay for "untrained" consumer use, the other clays are primarily for professional use by trained/experienced people. I'm not surprised that the white clay didn't do much with the overspray, you need to use something more aggressive CAREFULLY. The body sponge appears to work like one of the more aggressive clays and there's a specific technique involved to prevent damage.

ok so the sponge is ok but what is this techinique? the problem is that the normal white clay is enough for the rest of my truck so i dont want to purchase a mass quatity of the red or blue and then only use a little. thats why i was wondering if the cheaper sponge would work. what about the mr clean magic eraser-ive heard that that does similar things.
