clay bar and no wash?

You can do whatever you'd like to do but, you *should* rewash it before using the clay kit.
Reason being is that you'll have a higher liklihood of picking up some crud in your bar and then dragging it all over your paint removing that overspray. So, you've removed the overspray and have induced a lot of straight-line scratching (which is a PITA to remove).
Play it safe... there are no short cuts.

if i cut it into pieces like the detailing sticky says to could i just use a small piece for the overspray and the do the rest of the truck latter after i wash it? that way i only use the dirty piece on the spray and not drag anything over the rest of the truck. i live in an apartment so washing with soap doesnt really work unless i go to one of those pressure washer do it yourself places where it takes like 8 bucks to get my truck clean

Man, this is a no questions asked "YES, WASH IT" IMO.
I guess I am extra ****, but I take it to the extreme in terms of making 100% sure I have taken every precaution humanly possible whenever I touch my paint.
Rinse...rinse...rinse, pre-soak, etc etc
I also try and avoid dusty areas and work inside.
I even go as far as re-washing the vehicle if I am doing a 2-day detail and it sat in the garage over night collecting dust...

Taking the path of the least resistance is not always best when working with paint. 90% of the outcome is based on prep work and doing it right.
ONR has its place. Not bagging on your post, just providing more info for the OP.
