1st detail before winter with new truck was with Collinite 845 and it has been a real trooper through the midwest winter. Now I need to find time this spring for another detail of my white truck. Any other LSP suggestions? other than #16 which is hard to find...

Huh? Megs 34 is a QD...

or are you just saying that is your process.

Nattys White comes off with ease, If using a good MF, there is no need to QD after it unless you just want to....

PowerCat, why change off the C845? I think using that after using PB WD would be a nice combo. taht is if you are just looking to play around with new stuff...go for the Nattys or even try S100 (it offers nice pop, little protection)

I have used on white before, its looks pretty good. It will last about 45-60 days.

Grated I used it after using Optimum Polish with no sealer...

Using with something like WD and EX-P should be a good experiment. Be the one....

Powercat,

Don't forget, Zaino Z5 Pro does a pretty decent job on Oxford White too - based on recent personal experience.

Great point...didn't I see a thread about the bonding abilities of Z's to Megs products?

I am sure they work well with PB's...but just keep that in mind.

Actually, if you're going to use Zaino, you've got to use their stuff first. I don't think it will bond to anything else.

You can polish the car (remove imperfections) with any polish you'd like. PB, Adams, Menzerna, XMT, Optimum, Megs, etc. Then just do an alcohol wipe down prior to applying your Zaino. You should be doing the wipe down no matter what LSP you're appyling. Whether its with alcohol/ water, or a supplied cleaner fluid such as Zymol, Swissvax, Lusso, etc.

Imagine if you could only use Z5 or Z2 after using Z- aio or Z- PC. That would be terrible.

Ive never heard of doing this wipe down. What benefits does it add and is there any side effects to this? Anyone else do this?

2stroked,

Yep, I copied your post into my personal Truck Care Doc for future use! Before I purchase any of the Z products, I think I will try the s100 with the following combo:

Megs #80
PB WD
PB EX-P
s100

I will post pics if and when I get a chance... I am a grandpa and it seems as if grandkids birthdays and births are going to take up my weekends until late May... Yippie! So I am kinda torn between seeing the little ones and wanting to get the OCD out of me onto the truck!

It gives your LSP a better surface to bond to. It removes the oils in the polish which can inhibit the LSP from bonding properly. Zymol, Swissvax, and Lusso all sell cleaner fluids that go with their waxes. These basically do the same thing, but with even more benefits and of course a higher price tag. Another thing you can do is wipe the paint down with prep- sol.

Not only do these wipe downs prepare the surface for your LSP, but they also remove any oils in the polish which may be hiding imperfections. So, as you're polishing you want to do these wipe downs after wiping the polish off to make sure the surface is perfect. VERY few people do this, mostly the perfectionists. So is it something you guys need to do? Well i recommend doing it before applying your LSP. But should you do it as you polish to insure a perfect finish? Thats probably something the majority of people here dont need to worry about.
