sad day- first detailing challenge

yesterday i was driving down a rock road and ran over
a glob of greese. assuming it came out of the tractor that
just regraded the road.

anyhow, its contained to mostly my fender well and the corner
over my front bumper. but i do have "overspray" of it down
the entire side of my truck.

whats the best way to get it off without scratching it
or ruinning alot of towels ect.

there are also rocks and dirt mixed in with it.

would diluted simple green work??? im in the dark here

If it's nasty axel grease I'd use the Simple Green full strength. Just spray it on and let it work, then hose it off. Hopefully that will cut through enough of the grease that the dirt and stuff stuck in it will wash off then you can just use some good old soap and water to get the rest off, then re-wax the area.

If you still have residue, try some bug and tar remover on it.

thanks for your help guys.

after looking at it, there was more there than i thought.
it was actually solid back to the sticker on the bed.

1. i ended up shooting it with some diluted simple green. rinsed off.

2. i then used some bug cleaner laying around that i never cared for.
but it seemed liked it loosened it up, but it also smeared it all around.

3. i then took i took the some cleaner way and applied it flipping my
pad (by hand) over numerous times, trying not to drag it everywhere.

wiped it down with a mf and it seemed to do the trick.

that is going to have to do for about a month b/c with it raining 4-5 days a week right now,
it is useless to do a full detail.

thanks for the help guys, ill post a pic when i do a complete job on it.

Don't forget to at least get a coat of wax where you put that cleaning stuff on the paint. Glad you got it off with no damage.

after i took a break, i put a coat of nxt 2.0 just to protect it.

i will need to use some scratch x next time as i found a
few scratches that are small and short. i think scratch-x will be perfrect for those.
