It's pretty darn solid. Every myth I've heard about Tacos being crap was thrown out the door driving and riding in this thing. We took a 100 mi round trip for work the other day and I was amazed.

The interior is very nice for such a cheap, small truck. I like it better than mine - heck, it's still in one piece (my radio buttons have started peeling...29,000 miles. )

Plus he gets 18-19mpg, and the V6 in it is pretty peppy.
my friend has a truck like that and while i would still drive one i wish they would offer a v8 for the tacomas, my friend has a flowmaster on his and it sounds like a fartcan, oh yeah and the tacoma body styles didnt change much from 93 to 2003

His is stock and it's pretty throaty from the factory.

Not loud, but a nice sound. I'd liken it to the NBS 4.6 stock (different tone obviously, but the same effect.)

Toyota is buying back 1995-2000 Tacomas in saltbelt regions for 150% of KBB. It seems the frames have a huge rust issues. Seems the corrosion protection is non existent on these trucks. Even very well cared for truck have huge issues. I can't believe any other auto company would go to this level of customer service.

Nice job Tony, sorry for the slow response, we're camping right now and I swore to the wife, I would only check the forum at night.

JP

PS, buddy next to me asked me tonight if my extension cords were new. I just laughed and said "nope, they are hyperdressed"

for such a small cheap truck? haha i wish they were cheap...the only reason i ended up with a supercrew f150 4x4 after my 95 taco burned up was that i could couldnt fathom spending the same amount or more on a smaller truck to get anywhere near the same year model/mileage/options...i was looking at minimum 18,000 but many were 20,000+ for any tacoma ext cab 4x4 v6 5spd from 01-03...the same year models f150s with similar options but usually leather were running 15,000-19,000 and would much more easily fit more people and pull all three of my trailers with ease (i pull my enclosed DJ equipment trailer every weekend at least once but many times twice to get to gigs)...after much looking and trying to talk any of the tacomas down I pulled the trigger on my supercrew 01 lariat with 5.4L, 3.55LS, skidplate option, 50k miles, tow pkg, and one owner, for $15000, the lowest I ever got any tacoma was 17,900... part of the problem in my area was it was post katrina and nearly every toyota dealership got wiped out and took over a year to get any kind of local trade certified used stock in...everything was coming in from out of state auctions and the dealerships were having to pay a premium for the cars so they didnt have much room to "deal"...and private sales were non existent bc so many people lost their vehicles to the storm...really made the truck buying thing hard to do...

You're lucky she's letting you do that!

I'm extremely jealous of you by the way.

PS, don't they pick up a lot of dust being HD'd? I know my engine is taking on a lot of dust since I HD'd it again - stupid pollen.

My what?

Who the heck resurrected this thread?

Raptor - I did not use Plast-x as my bottle is still lost in the garage somewhere. RockPick did a wonderful write-up using a mustang. That thread has the basic procedure I use.

Ford bashing? Nah... Besides the fact that I can't afford to drive my truck anymore (hence why it's been sitting in the driveway for 2 weeks now,) I love it. It's really sad that I paid 250$ for all my power windows/mirrors goodies and haven't even put 'em in yet. *sigh* One of these days maybe.
