If you visit the detail dictionary you'll see a great break down of the LC pads.

You're in Bauxite aren't you?

Since you are in AR, you should consider getting your PB products from Scott down at Specialty Motoring in Houston. You will get the product in 2 days. Scott is a nice guy, you'll like chatting with him.
I've been researching the Lake pads... still a little confused as to what all I'll need, but I still have some research to do before buying. I'll look at the dictionary for the pad breakdown. I don't want to buy a bunch of stuff I don't need, but I'm not sure how many different pads I really need. www.autogeek.net has a good explanation of each LC pad; may not buy from them, but it is good info.

I'm in Bryant Ar around 20 miles south of Little Rock. I'll check out Top of the line... I see they are in Bonanza, Ar. I have no clue where that is. Mapquest will sort that out pretty quick though, just curious now where Bonanza is! I'll be sure to look at Specialty Motoring as well.

Is this where you found the PC?

Something tells me you may also need to buy the counterweight and a backing plate? - I need to defer to someone with more knowledge about the machine and pads than I.

To the OP, you would be doing yourself a major favor if you visited HWM in Atkins.

Where in the heck is Atkins Ar? I'm still learning all these places. I've been a gypsy for the past 10 years or so. We left the Dallas area to raise a family. So anyway how far away are you?

From what I've read so far the counterweight should be used on anything over 5.5 in pads, but I'm new to this whole thing. I'm still a little confused on the backing plates.

Great point, I have 4 7424's and two of them came with 5.5" counter weights and 2 with 6. they cost around 5 bucks to change but its a good question to ask the seller.

A backing plate will depend on which pad line he picks.

I'm guessing the 7424 I saw doesn't have a backing plate with it. For some reason I was looking at the 5.5 in pads. Y'all can tell me if the 6.5 is better to use. I figured the 5.5s would be cheaper and easier to use, but I may be way off on that one.

Well there are a few theorys of thought at work here.

Matching a backing plate with the pad can be confusing. LC pads come in many flavors.

LC VC pads come in many sizes, 8.5, 7.5 and 6.5....VC pads are technically designed to be used on a High Speed however, using the 6.5 pads is perfectly ok with a 7424 but you need the 6" backing plate you could get away with the 5.5" backing plate but you need to center the pad more. The great thing about VC pads is that they have a "lip" for the backing plate. If you go with the CCS pads, you have choices there too. Stay with the 6" for CCS pads. if you go that route, get teh 5.5" backing plate. (BTW, Top of the line says they have the 7.5 lake pads but they are really the 6.5 pads so the 6" backing plate is what you need)

Make sense?

Quick edit, best bet for Lakes, call Scott at SM and by his products....that way they are matched perfectly for your machine.

Yeah. It's not that far, but it would be nearly impossible for me to find time to go to him. I've been doing at least 3 details a week, and hauling to barrel races and rodeos on the weekends. Now if he were to want to come up here......

To the OP, hwm has incredible skills....note his recent thread.

The right tools, proper prep, good technique=amazing results.

I would still love to try Pinnacle Liquid Souveran on my white truck...I believe that is what was used on that white Navi that RR posted.

Sorry Guys,

Been out of town on business and missed this one. Don't forget Zaino or RR's personal favorite - Collonite 845. Here's mine with the Collonite. I should caution you though, the result was more the prep than the LSP - as usual.

Going to you would definitely be an option. I'm always open to learning from someone with experience rather than muddling my way through it. What days do you usually do your details? Maybe I could come up and give you a hand to learn a bit.

Incredible? Thanks for the compliment, but I don't think I'm quite worthy of incredible yet.
