Buy a bottle of rubbing alcohol and wipe all the pounded out dirt off the paint.

Then spray with undercoating or paint.

 

A couple cans of rubberized undercoating and the wheel wells look good, Thanks for the advise

 

This thread re-newed my thinking on this and finally gave me the kick in the a$$ to go and buy some undercoating. Less than 30 minutes of my time and two cans of Ruberized Undercoating and it is done.

I wanted to have then Line-X'ed when I got the liner put in but I forgot to ask about doing it and I never bothered after that.

Undercoating did the trick for me.

 

Once the wheel wells are painted with undercoating how easy are they keep clean?

So when you have the truck undercoated from the dealer what are they actually spraying and where? I figured that they do the wheel wells, maybe not...

 

Just a hint. I have yet to try it, but i was watching Xtreme 4x4 or Trucks this past weekend and they said after a good cleaning, spray wheel wells with WD-40. This acts as a protection, and mud/dirt won't stick to it. Maybe it works, maybe it don't. Anybody tried it before?

 

Now that I have my 3" Body lift on I picked up 4 cans of the rubber undercoat. I am thinking about doing the front crossmemeber along with the wheel wells. The crossmemeber looks pretty crappy compared to the black fabtech lift parts. I'll post pics when I finally do it.

I used evercoat rubberized undercoating about 2 years ago and it looks as good as the day it was painted. Some minor preping w/ a medium scotchbrite pad to scuff the surface along w/ dawn dishwashing liquid to remove any contaminants allowed the undercoating to properly adhere.

 

Definately go with the rubberized undercoating or if you can afford it Line X or one of the other top brands of spray on liner. My truck is also white and when new, I cleaned, preped and sprayed it with the rattle can bed liner, first gravel road and subsequent car wash the crap came of in big chunks.

Blasted off the remainder and just use whatever spray paint is on sale to touch up now and so far it seems to work for me but I wish I had gone with the undercoating in the first place.

 

Line-x it if available, costly though,but a good idea if you are going to get a bedliner done with line-x. Also have them do your step bars ( if any ). Otherwise, the DIT bedliner stuff does well.

 

If they get to dirty after while just re spray em. Or I guess you could spray some wheel shine on the undercoating.
