need help please! shift ****

anybody know how to get a shift **** off of an 08 stick? i know they usually just unscrew or come straight off by putting a wrench under it and hitting the wrench with a hammer or rubber mallet. my 04's came straight of by hitting it. the shift **** has nothing to take off on the end so there is no screw on the top to hold it on, i tried vice grips to turn it but just messed up the vinyl on it and i tried hitting it off from the bottom with no movement. any ideas?

well i went to the dealership, found my salesman, asked him, he took my back into the garage and asked about 5 people, they all didnt know. then we went to the parts ordering guys to see if there was a pic of the stick to see if it was threaded and all that came up was a drawing of a shifter without a ****. so i went back home with my tail between my legs. that was a month ago. i got mad enough today to try again with the hitting it. i remembered the time it didnt move i used a rubber mallett which would absorb the shock and not move it. so i used a hammer with a wrench beneath the ****. 3 hits and off came the ****. had to hit it kinda hard and it came off, flew through the air, and hit my right in my chin. lol glad it was rubber coated. now i have my cooler shift **** on it. i will take a pic sometime.
