A lot of guys will apply their LSP by hand, but it is personally preference. It seems like a lot of times they will apply a carnauba wax by hand as a LSP. I like using megs 26 by hand.

I do it by hand. Also remove it by hand as well. I just see it as less of a change of inducing any swirls.

I apply by hand because I don't have the resources for a DA. Usually do 3 steps by applying and taking off. Of course thats why I am scheduled for shoulder surgery next month

Can you get the same results by hand vs. a DA?

I do all of my polishing and correction with a machine (a PC) because it does a much more consistent job - much faster. I then apply and remove any LSP by hand with microfiber towels.

Remember, most of us nut cases are not "waxing" a vehicle as most people think of it. Most people think of "wax" as something that one wipes on, then wipes off, that magically removes all defects, then leaves a deep, rich shine that lasts over a year. That only happens in Billy Mays commercials - or when you're smoking crack. (Then of course if you're a liberal ...) These "miracle" products contain cleaners, fillers and some wax, but it's a whole different process. Hope that helps.

Seriously though, I'm about to buy a buy the Meguiars 110 DA polisher myself.

Peace,

Depends on what i'm going for.

My personal vehicles get #16 by hand. (Soon to try Natty's Red by hand, yes, it does smell as good as people say).

If i'm detailing a vehicle for someone, it's most of the time NXT 2.0 by way of g100 and LC CCS Black.

I use the D.A. for applying everything except #16 but I started replacing #16 with Collinite 845. Everything comes off with Microfiber cloths by hand.

Nearly every vehicle I detail will be polished (defect removal) via rotary or PC (depends on the severity of the problems and how I feel that day.. LOL!)....

Last step products (LSPs) are almost exclusively applied by hand on my personal and on my client vehicles. Removal is with a DF Towel.

I haven't waxed by hand for about 2 years now. I got a PC 7424 and I use it all the time. I use Meguiars wax and do it once a month and do a 3 step process every 6 months.
