I feel like a noob...

Got done detailing some hours ago. Had started at noon, the day was nice. Did 1 pass of M105 with an orange Cobra pad, followed by XMT 360, topped with Wolfgang's deep gloss paint sealant. As I went, I checked with the work lights and the sun, to see how the swirls were going. I was surprised I wasn't seeing swirling with the orange/105 combo, but I figured hey, maybe 105 is that badass. I got rid of most of the scratches I had, leaving only the deepest ones.

As night time came, I turned some other lights on. I got done with everything. The Wolfgang was awesome to work with. The Expy looked nice and shiney both in the lights that were on, as well as the street lights. Don't have a camera or else I would have posted pictures.

I just came from Walmart, and as I was about to get on, I noticed if you look closely at the reflections of the lights, there's thin circular swirling around the reflection. I'm guessing it's micro marring. Ugh. Should have figured the orange/105 combo was working out too good.

Either way, will probably have to redo the whole Expy with Dawn, then 105 with a yellow Meg's pad, then re-seal it. Oh well, live and learn, I guess.

Mini rant over.

I guess I might as well ask a relating question: What type of work lights do you guys use to see imperfections? Right now, I'm using a 2 500W yellow stand thing from Walmart. I only had one of the lights turned on, though, when I was detailing today. Is 500W too bright? Should I bump down to one of the 250W ones?

Yea, I don't really mind experimenting. I just got those 2 orange pads yesterday, and I wanted to see how well they worked. I guess they worked too well. Oh well, guess I have something to do for the weekend.

BTW, this was done with a Flex on speed 4.5 for the 105/orange combo, 3-4 for the XMT, and the Wolfgang was done by hand. Also tried a foam gun today. That was kinnda cool.

I only have a single 500W light I believe. I don't know if it is just me but it seems like sometimes no matter what type of light you have it will only show up in the sun or in the reflection of a light in the middle of night.
