Getting rid of Water Marks on Chrome/Nickel Plating (shocks)

Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of water marks on my sway-a-way coilovers and piggy back shocks? I think they have a chrome or nickel plated coating on them.

I've used mothers chrome polish and a polish for chrome that comes in a wadding ball. I still can't get rid of these dam water marks even after working with the polish for 30 minutes. Any ideas?

The shocks still have the turned machining finish from the lathe they were machined on so it is hard to get into that very small groove.

Thanks

You may need to try a polish a bit more aggressive than chrome polish. Meguiar's Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum polish works great on chrome. You could then follow it up with the chrome polish as a final polish.

I will try the vinegar a shot.

Have you guys ever used those power ball drill attachments Meguiars makes? I'm thinking a little bit of heat might take them off.

The Powerball is made by Mothers. It really just speeds up the process. Makes a mess too. I doubt it will work any better than by hand. What was the wadding you used? Heavy Metal Polish by chance? They make them in different levels. Ultrafine, Medium and Coarse...

I've never used the pretreated wadding/cotton like I have pictured. I have used the liquid version of the blue ultra fine polish with great success on truck stacks on dump trucks that haul blacktop and stone everyday.

The HMP stuff is great too! I have the Ultrafine and Medium bottles. I personally am not a big fan of the wadding products.
