Ok didnt know and I didnt want him going at his truck with a cheap buffer and rubbing compund and creating more problems is all.

I hear ya. My main point of the post was to get rid of the problem at the source. Eliminate what is scratching the truck in the first place.

Yupp the problem causing the scratches can be fixed for about .15$.
